As we settle into the year in February (and hoping that the weather also settles down too) we have been quite busy with commercial work as well as private. Working with Neil Walker from the Djanogly Lakeside Art Gallery we supplied six 1.7 metre images directly printed on to vinyl for the latest exhibition featuring St Mary's Church in the historic Lace Market, Nottingham along with other framed items for additional exhibitions. One job that sprung to mind (and is possibly typical of the type of work we undertake) was a work- boot which was cut into two that was for one of our regular retailer clients. They asked us to print a backing and to frame this for a sales exhibition . Another job was for a private customer who purchased a full size signed Snooker table baize used in a top tournament. This was signed on the face and also on the back, upside down ! Our customer asked that this was to show both signatures side by side in the frame and that the baize was not to be cut or altered in any way and the entire excess of the material was to be wrapped into the back of the frame. With some imaginative folding and the use of a deep box section here are the results.
Other projects we were also involved on were the Greggs refurbishment (as shown on the Sky1 series "More than meats the pie !"). Framing for Aberdeen Airport Hotel, Genting and Dusk till Dawn Casinos, Award Frames for a number of divisions of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Constabularies as well as canvas stretching for the Ministry of Defence and B.M.W projects.
Staff changes also took place when Nicole Grant, our studio manager, took maternity leave and has since had a daughter ( Josephine Valerie). Stepping in was Cathy Robinson, Cathy who ran a successful photography business for over 20years now heads the front of house and assists the walk-in customers, handles calls as well as operates the two computer driven mount cutters .
Roger Fraser, who works mainly in the wood machinery department got hitched to his partner Christine just before the 2013 Christmas break with the wedding in Lapland. And yes, they did see Santa, although Roger denies he sat on his knee!
Custom Frames Accounts Director and Company Secretary, was worryingly diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last Autumn. During the last six months she has maintained her role seamlessly, in-between eleven chemotherapy sessions. She has now completed her last treatment and the prognosis is looking good.
Production Manager and myself work as ever, to ensure our customers receive the very best service, with the highest standard we can provide.
