SIGNED MEMORABELIA

Over the years our experienced team have framed all sorts of 3D items, Toolboxes, Hockey sticks, Cricket bats as well as sports clothing. When asked to frame about twenty full sized guitars our framing team took it in their stride.
The image to the left are just six of the guitars we worked on. The guitars were framed for various charity events throughout the country and were signed by Bruce Springsteen The Eagles, Bryan Adams, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, Genesis and U2.

Burrito Outlet

Over the years we have been involved with many "off the wall" projects ( so to speak) but we've always said if you can hang it on the wall, we can do it!
This particular job took us possibly as far as we could go from picture framing but with the extensive knowledge of our experienced staff we worked through and turned this project around in record time to meet the customers launch.
We were asked to participate on this project via one of London's top design studios with a number of other contractors to refurbish two Burrito outlets as prototypes in the square mile, London.
These are to be the concept designs to "road-tested" before rolling out to the other outlets in the group.
The concept was to clearly be Mexican style and we were asked to produce large coffee storage units for each of the two outlets in a weathered look combining a blackboard door and large solid wooden lettering to sit on the top shelving unit.
We also were requested to design five A1 menu board for each outlet so that the menus could be changed regularly. The brief was that they needed to look like used drawers however these had to be manufactured from scratch in our workshop to exact size and specifications. So to were the drawer type dispensers'.Here are a few images of the units under construction in our machine shop and others showing the items installed on site.

GREGGS (More Than Meats the Pie!)

If you are one of those people who have very little to do on a Monday evening you may have tuned onto Sky 1 where a "fly on the wall" documentary has been running about the day to day trials and tribulations of Greggs the well known sandwich, pastry and cake outlets.
Episode one shows the new designs and refurbishment work taking place in the first four outlets of one hundred planned for this year (2013).
With our friends at Philip Watts Design in Nottingham we were asked to produce collections of framed images depicting early days at Greggs or themed to the area of the particular outlet.
The frames ranged from small simple A4 sizes to poster formats for the larger branches and we have recently produced a run of gold ornate frames for the most recent store (should be interesting ! ) Here are a few images from the programme showing some of our frames along with Philip Watts (Chief designer and Director).

NEW ART EXCHANGE

For a number of years we have worked with the New Art Exchange on numerous regional and international exhibitions under the instruction of Melanie Kidd.
Last year we completed a Middle Eastern photography exhibition by women photographers and recently "Commonality of Strangers and Uganda Stories" from Mahtab Hussani and Sunil Shah.

DJANOGLY AND LAKESIDE ARTS

Custom Frames is proud to have worked with the Djanogly Art Gallery, Nottingham, one of the main exhibition arena's in the City. To present day we are the preferred suppliers and picture framers as well as being collaborative sponsors of some past exhibitions. Working with curator Neil Walker we have produced, mounted and framed work for a number of major exhibitions .
Two especially of interest were "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning" (curated by Anna Douglas) a pictorial photo journey of the real Radford during the making of film in the 1960's and recently an exhibition by Mark Rawlinson of fascinating night photography "And Now It's Dark".

WAITROSE

As an affiliated Supplier and installer to Waitrose we were contracted to print and stretch Dye-Sublimation canvases onto extra deep box sections and to be installed into the café areas in selected stores throughout the country. Waitrose also requested large format canvases for their H.Q. Wait House, Bracknell, Berkshire...

TWYCROSS ZOO

Working with our friends at Crocodile House www.crocodilehouse.co.uk we were pleased to collaborate in sympathetically mounting and framing sets of original photographs that reflected a past and present at Twycross. With Toby and David from Crocodile House, canvases and traditionally framed images were installed by Custom Frames..

REBECCA ADLINGTON SWIMMING CENTRE

After the Latest refurbishment of what was once the original Sherwood Colliery swimming baths, Custom Frames were contracted by Mansfield District Council to print and install a number of canvases to commemorate a journey through time of the baths from 1934 to present day. Images and information were put together and the canvases were produced to withstand the humidity in the pool area. The swimming baths are now known as the Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre .

NCSL

We were pleased to be a part of this project for the N.C.S.L ( National College for School Leadership) collaborating with Louise Hunt of Your Space Interiors.
The complex built app five years earlier on the Nottingham University Jubilee Campus was due for a refurbishment and we were brought in to source images, produce dye-sublimation canvases, frame and install approximately 500 canvases in the 100 guest rooms throughout the conference centre.

MADEJSKI STADIUM

As Part of Custom Frames association as a recognised supplier to Waitrose and John Lewis we were asked to produce a range of canvases depicting part of the Waitrose product range for the Madejski Stadium home of Reading F.C. as part of their sponsorship deal.Our team installed the canvases in public areas, players entrances and the board room...

NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY MEDICAL SCHOOL

QUEEN'S MEDICAL CENTRE

Working with The University of Nottingham Medical School, Queens Medical Centre, Custom Frames have been involved since its inception in 2005 to the present day on an on-going art project called "The Dean's Art Initiative" .
The concept was the brain-child Professor Terrence Bennett, School of Biomedical Sciences (retired) who still plays an active part in this project and by whom we are instructed to produce and introduce artwork throughout the Medical School areas, all the work is submitted by staff and students alike. Our part is to copy the original pieces and reproduce these in differing types of styles and mediums.

CENTERAL LONDON HOTELS

Recently we have been involved with two projects both international hotels in central London.
One was to produce and supply 80 large full length framed mirrors and 80 over-desk mirrors with printed views of London and relief models bonded onto the mirrors.
The second hotel restaurant project which was to frame a number of large reproduction oils in a 140mm faced ornate frame ( see images ). Sadly due to contractual reasons we cannot divulge the names of the hotels however we're sure that you would instantly recognise them.

AL BARAKAH PALACE AMMAN

In the latter part of 2001 Custom Frames were commissioned to gild ceiling panels destined for the Royal Al Barakah Palace, Amman, Jordan ( The residence of King Abdulla II).
Working with a commercial artist company (Artistic Licence) we embellished each panel (some being 1.6 metres) and used in excess of 6,000 sheets of gold and silver leaf. The main work was carried out in Nottingham with the completed panels being shipped to Jordan to be installed. Later with two of the painter /artists we worked at the Jordanian Palace for a week to repair any issues caused during installation.

THE PRIDE OF ALOHA

In early 2004 we were commissioned to make a number of frames through Artistic Licence (Nottingham) for a cruise liner "The Pride of Aloha" based in Hawaii.
The frames ranged from four metres to six metres long.
For safety reasons we decided to assemble the frames on site at the shippers to avoid any loosening or additional stress on the joints. The images were then fixed into the now completed frames and securely fixed by the means of specially produced brackets and screws.
Once we had given them basic packaging the frames were hoisted by overhead cranes and loaded into the enormous wooden crates ready for the journey to the U.S.

BBC GARDENERS WORLD

In June 2005 Custom Frames were asked by Gardens Co, a Nottingham garden design company and in association with BALI ( British Association of Landscape Industries) to participate as a sponsor of their show garden for the BBC Gardeners World Live Show. We produced a framed acrylic mirror with their distinct logo. The show had a number of visitors including HM Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.

MALAYSIAN RESTAURANT

Along with other smaller silks for the bar area Custom Frames were asked by the owners of a new Malaysian restaurant to come up with framing solution for a 4.5 long meter silk painting from Malaya. We decided to pad and mount the silk onto a rigid backing board as pictured in the workshop. The other picture depicts the opening night where musicians were brought over from Malaya for the event.
