After being invited to the Ulverscroft Camera Club last year to give a talk on picture framing we decided to ask the group to come along to our studios in Nottingham to show them behind the scenes and how we go about framing the work. The Group stayed over two hours and we covered cutting and joining mouldings, canvas stretching, gold leafing, glass-cutting and computerised mount cutting. Ian Hamilton-Smith who keeps the group together kindly mentioned the visit on the Ulverscroft Web Site www.ulverscroftcameraclub.com as copied in below. I only hope that the group enjoyed the morning as much as I, keep up the good work guys. Alan Carlisle Managing Director
"There was a nice sized group of us arrived at the premises of Custom Frames to be met there by Alan Carlisle. Right from walking through the door it was an experience not to have missed. Alan explained what his Company was about and how things had changed in his 21 years then proceeded to show us how the mounts, the frames and even the glass could be precisely cut to even the weirdest of measurements with, in the main, his computerised equipment. He even in live time mounted on a block a canvas print which Richard just happened to have with him. It was a real education conducted by a man who not only knew his craft but was absolutely passionate about it. I feel sure that Alan's skills will be called upon more and more in the near future. He ended by producing a three image mount under the word ULVERSCROFT all produced in a couple of minutes via one of those wonderful computer controlled cutters. Thank you Alan for a wonderful demonstration and display of your skills".
