This is our first blog post for 2014 and it is also to introduce our new website developed for us by LizArc. We hope you find it easy to navigate by either PC, Tablet or Phone.
To re-cap on 2013 . . . . . a very strange year! Just when we were expecting another flat year (as we have all experienced since 2009) we topped all turnover records since Custom Frames was founded in 1992.
Possibly one reason for this is two major projects based in London that we worked upon. One project being for two prototype fast food outlets and the other for a private members club where we constructed bespoke two metre oak frames to surround canvases that we had stretch and fire proof. Another reason is a clear up-turn in the economy which we can see from not only our commercial customer but private ones too.
WHATS NEW FOR THE NEW YEAR
If you call into our studio reception this year, as ever we source the latest en vogue frame finishes, mounts and styles, with plenty of new collections coming forward in 2014. As well as this, we've introduced an amazing ( don't worry I won't say glazing !) Glass that is almost invisible. A little like my camouflage jacket, I know I left it somewhere . . . . . but just can't find it! Incredible glass and still in a realistic price range. You need to see it to believe it . . . . . .Mmmmmm ! Ask when you're next in .
Other changes are that we are computerising our reception pricing. This means that you will see every element of your framing order pricing, If you do place an order with us, you'll receive a customer confirmation, your order will be sent electronically to the workshop and accounts. On collection you will receive with your finished order an itemised invoice outlining every aspect of your order. If you wish, we will also retain your contact details (this will never be used for third party use) and also all of your order details in case you require the same frame or mounts in the future..
Already in the New Year we are off to a flying start with two contract orders of 850 frames in the first week. Fifty frames for an Inverness hotel and many individual corporate projects with an abundance of private work taken in our showroom.. Each month I will update our Blog and keep you informed of the latest news and up-dates.
I'd personally like to thank our customers for their orders and support over the 2013 and hope we can be of service to you and your friends/colleagues throughout 2014.
Other projects we were also involved on were the Greggs refurbishment (as shown on the Sky1 series "More than meats the pie !"). Framing for Aberdeen Airport Hotel, Genting and Dusk till Dawn Casinos, Award Frames for a number of divisions of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Constabularies as well as canvas stretching for the Ministry of Defence and B.M.W projects.
Staff changes also took place when Nicole Grant, our studio manager, took maternity leave and has since had a daughter ( Josephine Valerie). Stepping in was Cathy Robinson, Cathy who ran a successful photography business for over 20years now heads the front of house and assists the walk-in customers, handles calls as well as operates the two computer driven mount cutters .
Roger Fraser, who works mainly in the wood machinery department got hitched to his partner Christine just before the 2013 Christmas break with the wedding in Lapland. And yes, they did see Santa, although Roger denies he sat on his knee!
Custom Frames Accounts Director and Company Secretary, was worryingly diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma last Autumn. During the last six months she has maintained her role seamlessly, in-between eleven chemotherapy sessions. She has now completed her last treatment and the prognosis is looking good.
Dean Spencer (Production Manager) and myself work as ever, to ensure our customers receive the very best service, with the highest standard we can provide.
